have you ever had to decide who you want to be next?

I just got an aura reading from Jane at Tertiary Sight, and upon flipping over the developed photo, she immediately said it looked like I was in a liminal space. 

I said, yes, I fucking am. 

Raven recently reminded me about the Fertile Void, which always sounds mysterious and sexy... until you’re in it and you’d rather be anywhere else.

Have you ever had to decide who you want to be next?

I’m not talking about branding (how you are seen from the outside) — I’m talking about what’s underneath it.

If the foundation of what you stand for and how exactly you help people isn’t solid, then the brand will never be, either. You can't build your dream home without committing to a location first.  

You may still be experimenting with who you want to be, and if so, then that’s perfect — you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. The brand will naturally emerge and take shape as you do.

But if you feel like you’re fighting yourself to integrate your past work, your potential future work, work that you love, AND work that makes you money, and the common thread feels lost beneath a business that has become a burden...

Sometimes a swailing is required: a controlled burn to clear out dying overgrowth and make room for the new.
