THE BRIEF:

Great music. Raised spirits.

Séance Listening Room is a concert series in Durham, NC featuring some of the best regional and national Folk & Americana artists around.

Hosted by Juliana Finch, a lifelong touring musician, the brand had to live up to her long-term vision of opening a venue and community institution that works for musicians first, with accessibility, education, and cultural staying power in mind.

It must leave a lasting impression on artists and the local community as momentum builds through events at estabilished venues and festivals… and round out a long-term vision to present to investors.

It must embody the “let’s stay a while” intimacy that keeps patrons coming back and support the immersive experience of a show, making it even more memorable to local folk music audiences and beyond.

THE RESULT:

A brand that’s not just welcoming, but alluring — and speaks to a much more diverse Folk audience than the stereotype of “old white guys.”

Art Nouveau opulence. Scrolling leaves and flowing, smoky abstraction. The curling, sensual “s” of the logo evolves into a monogram, frames, and patterns that capture the richly layered feel of the Arts and Crafts Movement, creating luxury through special attention to detail.

The bold, tingling warmth of red on more red draws one closer, with ochre and olive touches to ground and nod to nature-inspired elements. Richly saturated background textures add the tactile depth of leather, linen, and and paper.

Warm, enveloping, and captivating, the brand speaks to the new kind of experience that Séance Listening Room is build building for both musicians and audiences: deep care, focused curation, accessible luxury, and a legacy rooted in history.
